Powderpuff Stuff

By Mallori Powell

One major event during the homecoming week at Fruita Monument High School is Powderpuff football. The guys hang up their jerseys and helmets and the girls get their chance at the sport. Each class assembles their own team, and then they play flag football. On October 14th, each team put on their class color, uniting as a single group. The seniors wore black, juniors wore blue, sophomores wore white, and freshmen were in pink. The sophomores took on the freshmen first, and they won. After that game, the exhilarating match between the juniors and seniors occurred. While the seniors played a physical game, striving to come out on top being the oldest class, the juniors prevailed. Overall, the girls who participated played with spirit and heart as they embraced the social aspects that accompany the homecoming dance.
