The Time of the Pumpkin

The ambience of a chilly fall day is something that every fall fan savors, the familiar scent of smoke ascends from chimneys and fills your nostrils with nostalgia, blazon leaves dance about the sidewalk as if they were enchanted by the cool autumn breeze who’s imperceptible tendrils wrap around you and pierce your impenetrable sweater that envelops your body with a comforting warmth. The mere feeling of walking through your front door and being struck in the face with an overabundance of appealing sights, smells, noises and feels, greeted with a total sensory overload answers the question as to why fall such an appeal, sure in nature it promises the death and hibernation of most flora and fauna but to humans it reunites us and makes us appreciate the things that we hadn’t in quite a while, it prepares us all for a harsh winter ahead and promises that someday everything will return.

Faux Pumpkin Pie recipe:pumpkin

2 frozen pie dough packages (Thawed)

2 Cans of yams or sweet potatoes

2 Eggs

1 Can of Sweetened Condensed milk

1 cup of Brown Sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla

3 tablespoons of Cinnamon

1 tablespoon of Nutmeg

1 tablespoon of Allspice

½ tablespoon of Ginger


1.Preheat oven to 375. Using a cup or cutter begin to cut individual circles big enough to fit a muffin tin, once finished place each into a greased tin.

2.Begin pureeing the yams in a large mixer until they have reached a smooth consistency, ad the rest of ingredients and beat until a filling consistency has developed.

3.Place in each individual pie crust and bake until browned on top.
